No Mortgage Bailout

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

My colleague Peter Suderman of FreedomWorks put this video together for our new website AngryRenter.com

It makes the point that forcing taxpayers to bail out banks and consumers that made bad decisions is unfair.

Hillary’s story about health care access untrue

Monday, April 7th, 2008

CNN reports that Hillary Clinton’s story about a woman in Ohio who died because she couldn’t afford health care turns out to be false.

A hospital has raised questions over the accuracy of the story, and Clinton’s campaign has said although they had no reason to doubt the story, they were unable to confirm the details.

The hospital isn’t pleased about the story telling incident. Here is what their spokesman had to say.

“There is no indication that she was ever denied medical care at any time, for any reason. We clearly reject any perception that we ever denied any care to this woman.”

Is anyone else noticing a pattern of disregarding facts and reality? The Clintons almost make lies entertaining.

The story I mentioned a few days ago about Planned Parenthood accepting money from a donor posing as a racist made it on the Rush Limbaugh Show.

Here is a clip.

Che Guevara is not cool

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

The other day at the gym I saw a guy wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt. I had to ask him why he was proudly brandishing the image of a communist killer. I kindly asked him to explain his gym attire and he responded that Che was his “idol.” Interesting choice of words, I thought. Che certainly is a secular god of the far left around the world.

The man was middle-aged, with a slight Spanish accent. He offered that he was from Bolivia and during his undergraduate years “we all followed Che.” I asked him why he and his cohorts followed a man who was a communist revolutionary and chief executioner for Fidel Castro. Well, he might have been a murderer, admitted the man, but he was dedicated to his ideals. Yes, well, his ideals were brutal and inhumane, I responded. The man didn’t argue, but merely added that there was something mystical about Che. Again, the religious imagery was hard to escape. Yes, Che is a mystical figure among leftist students, professors and coffee shop pseudo-intellectuals. But why would they support someone who practiced and preached violence, not peace? How would they treat someone wearing a Hitler or Mussolini shirt to the gym? Why do left-wing murderers and tyrants get absolution of their sins by the leftist secular elites?

After the conversation I at least knew the answer to one question. This man clearly knew very little about the life and times of Che Guevara. He didn’t defend the murder, nor the failed system of communism that Che espoused. Rather, he just wore the t-shirt because Che seemed cool and everyone else around him thought so to. I guess that’s okay, but at least he now knows that not everyone thinks Che is cool. Hopefully he will think about our discussion the next time he takes that t-shirt out of his closet to put it on. In fact, I hope he decides never to wear that t-shirt again.

Perhaps the power of social reinforcement that encouraged him to celebrate Che can be utilized to halt the celebration.

Racism on MLK’s Assassination Anniversary

Friday, April 4th, 2008

My friend just sent me this picture of a flyer that was posted on his door in Columbia Heights this morning.

crackazcomin.jpg

The flyer reads “Crackers Coming 2 Town.. Stop Gentrification” and “Keep DC Black.” The picture is from a KKK rally in Washington D.C. from some time in the distant past. It’s unfortunate that whoever posted this flyer on my friend’s door has such hate in his or her heart for white people. I doubt that Dr. King would support this kind of intimidation and racism.

My friend was also accosted on two different occasions in the neighborhood. One angry man yelled at him as he was crossing the street “F!@# you whitey.” Another time a couple of guys leaving a pool hall in the neighborhood came up to him and spat on him.

The racial animosity for white folks who live in Columbia Heights is apparently a big problem. It’s really too bad, given that my friend is one of the most tolerant people I know and has done a lot of work to help mentor inner-city youth. He is quite the farthest thing from a Klansman.

We still have a long way to go when it comes to moving past the racial wounds in our social fabric. But it’s going to take all ethnicities to work together to heal these wounds.

Planned Parenthood accepts money to abort Black babies

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Watch this shocking new video where Planned Parenthood accepts money from a racist donor who seeks to abort black babies. This expose’ should wake Americans up to the evil things Planned Parenthood is willing to do in order to abort babies in America.

Thanks to Lila and James for putting this video together to inform the public.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin posted the video, as did a number of other bloggers. Let’s hope this makes the jump to talk radio or Fox News next.

Ashley Herzog has a column up over at The Post, an Athens, Ohio news site.

True North comments on the eugenicists at Planned Parenthood, and Red State’s Ericka Andersen adds her two cents too.

Obama and the ‘L’ word

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Peter Wehner writes in today’s Wall Street Journal that despite his denials, Barack Obama is a liberal.

Mr. Obama has criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a partial birth abortion ban, and he wants to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. He voted against John Roberts and Samuel Alito for the Supreme Court. In Illinois, Mr. Obama supported banning the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. And he supports granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.

Wehner’s piece contains little new information, but is a good recap of what we already know about Obama’s leftist beliefs. I think conservatives must make this case every day until the election, though, because most young people have no clue what Obama actually thinks. They are simply enamored with him because he is young and a good speaker. Wehner’s strongest paragraph is the following, which outlines why we need to define Obama as a liberal.

Mr. McCain needs to present a compelling case on the foundational beliefs that divide liberalism and conservatism – on matters like the size and role of government, competition and accountability in education, health care, and whether higher taxes encourage or retard economic growth. Mr. McCain also needs to force a debate on the proper role of the judiciary, the protection owed to unborn children and the rights owed to unlawful enemy combatants, and whether promoting liberty should be a central aim of American foreign policy in combating militant Islam.

Exactly. Telling voters that Obama is a liberal is not enough. McCain and his supporters must explain why liberalism has failed in the past and why it could not come at a worse time than the present.
