Blog reactions to Ryan Sorba’s speech at Smith College
I haven’t heard from Ryan yet, but the lefty blogosphere is abuzz with reports of a rowdy protest by homosexualists banging pots and chanting silly slogans. Typical left-wing nonsense in response to an actual argument against their frail ideology. The students of Smith College should at least have had a chance to hear what Ryan had to say, whether or not they agreed with his conclusions. But the left showed its ignorance and hypocrisy once again. Below are links to lefty bloggers bragging about their attempt to silence a dissenting voice.
The last blogger is a Smith alumnus who writes that free speech should be squelched for the “common good.” I hope she remembers that the next time she wants to say something that most Americans disagree with. Perhaps she can explain to the thought police that she wants free speech to apply to her but not to others with whom she disagrees.

Re: Kleos Aphthiton:
She was speaking theoretically and merely raising the issue, citing a court ruling that problematizes the situation. Besides, one Smithie’s opinion does not necessarily reflect any one else at the school.
Consider her last paragraph:
ultimately, despite the hurtful message he is spreading and his blatant disregard for the feelings of his audience members, i hope that the smith community will rise to this challenge and if anyone chooses to protest, that they will do so diplomatically and classily - with tactful signs and chalkings and not with rudeness and disrespect. as a center of intellectual growth, smith is called to take the higher road here. if he’s going for publicity that casts smithies in a negative light, i hope they don’t give him the chance. kill him with kindness. it may not feel as satisfying right now, but in the long run it will show the world what smithies are really like.
No squelching of free speech there. Sorry to burst your bubble.

All you have to know is that when an identical twin is homosexual, the other is NOT more than half the time. As identical twins have identical genes, homosexuality cannot be genetic. The same result can be shown in many other ways, but that is really all one needs to know.
Sorba is of course right. But at a sodomy-loving college like Smith, where homosexuality and sexual perversion are holy sacraments, and where liberal tyranny reigns, and free speech and freedom of religion mean nothing, of course he’ll raise a ruckus.
The whole worldview of homosexuals and homosexualists is predicated on the idea that there is nothing wrong with them - despite the fact that they are abusing their bodies and trying to copulate with members of the same sex.
Their response to the obvious wrongness of what they’re doing? Try to get everyone else in the world to never point out the obvious.
Sorba has the guts to point out the obvious - and they hate it, because someone, somewhere, refuses to be tyrannized by them.

Thanks for the comment, James. Sorry I accidentally deleted your previous comment. Here it is:
Well of course. Liberals hate free speech. They want to decide what speech should be allowed and what shouldn’t be.
Such tyranny may work in other countries (like Canada) - but it won’t in the United States, such our inalienable right to free speech is protected by the Constitution.
As a result - some liberals - like those at Smith - might actually hear something, for once, that they don’t like. The horror! The horror!

Sexual perversion and baby killing - the two liberal sacraments…

Wow, so that’s what intellectual analysis looks like at Smith College? Ha ha ha. They made fools of themselves, and didn’t (maybe still don’t) even know it.

Some have figured it out. There is a lot of debate going on at Smith College forums and blogs right now. Some lefty’s are rightfully criticizing the behavior of the radicals. Perhaps they will influence these liberal fascists for the better.

I am a Smith alumna, a libertarian, and a huge proponent of free speech, so I feel that I can see both sides of this debate. Frankly, this whole situation is something everyone can have a good laugh about.

Wow, libertarienne -
Ya think it’s funny that free speech is denied at your alma mater?
I’d be appalled and ashamed - that I’d attended a university that is tyrannical and totalitarian - not to mention crude and vile.
But, I would guess - most Smith alumni probably consider such good. That’s how demented and idiotized modern day students have become.
A REAL university supports freedoms of speech and religion and all ideas. Too bad yours doesn’t fit the bill.

libertarienne,
Why not have a meaningful debate on the issue? Why not have two speakers make their case? What is funny about using Stalinist tactics to stifle someone’s ability to speak freely?

What’s funny about it is how truly pointless this whole episode was. 99% of women at Smith probably disagree with Ryan Sorba (as do I, as his reasoning is not sound and his assertions are clearly derived from a personal moral viewpoint against homosexuality rather than any kind of convincing scientific evidence), so it’s not as though Mr. Sorba was going to convince anyone that his point of view was particularly valid. That’s why it was even more of a waste of time for the outraged lesbians to break out their 60s-era Pride slogans and disrupt his talk. I find it personally amusing because Smith has apparently not changed much in the 8 years since I graduated: the Republicans club there continues to use the banner of “conservatism” as a justification for homophobia (in my day, crusading against gay rights was their sole issue), and the gays continue to overreact to speakers like Ryan Sorba as if his point of view is personally attacking them.
However, this is common at most colleges. I doubt that a gay rights activist would be received much differently if speaking at Bob Jones University. Disruptive protest is by no means solely the province of “liberals,” and while meaningful debate would obviously be a more mature and productive means of addressing this, college kids with strong beliefs often tend to employ the former. Furthermore, I disagree that this means Smith College doesn’t support “freedoms of speech and religion and all ideas.” Mr. Sorba’s lecture was disrupted by a group of (exceedingly vocal) students, not the school’s administration. From what I’ve read about this incident, Mr. Sorba was ultimately allowed to resume his speech to the three members of the Smith Republican Club after the lesbians returned to drink tea and congratulate themselves at the LBTA center on what they probably saw as an outrageously successful strike at the homophobic powers that be. This is not so much suppression of freedom of speech as it is one group speaking more loudly than the other.
A meaningful debate between a pseudo-scientist like Mr. Sorba and a bunch of faux activism-drunk self-righteous Smith girls is a virtual impossibility, so you might as well laugh at what a stupid, absurd situation this entire thing was.

As Ann Coulter likes to say, liberals hate science. All you have to know is that when one identical twin is homosexual, the other is not over 70% of the time. That’s all you have to know to know that homosexuality is not genetic. And that doesn’t take into account the fact that homosexuality doesn’t follow Mendelian genetic patterns, that a full court search for a ‘gay’ ‘gene’ has already been undertaken (and found nothing of statistical significance), and that if it were genetic, it would have died out long ago, etc. etc.
And Ryan Sorba points out some real facts - like that the majority of homosexuals were abused by older homosexuals. Think that doesn’t have anything to do with it?
Liberals live in a little fake world walled off from the real world, and real facts, and real science, and real truth.
Libertarienne above desperately wants to make this into some kind of farce - but it is far more serious and far more evil than that.
This is a supposed ‘university’ where not only facts and science are verboten, but free speech as well.
It’s just a lefty Stalinist indoctrination camp, mixed with the usual lefty infatuation with sexual perversions of any sort.
As one blogger on freerepublic.com said: The Smith motto should be: If you’re not lesbian in four years, we’ve failed.
Any parent who sends a child to this Sovient sexually pervertive indoctrination center is committing child abuse.
