Tom Graves for Congress
There is a special election coming up very soon in Georgia’s 9th congressional district. Tom Graves, a personal friend and a stellar conservative state legislator, is running to replace the retiring incumbent Nathan Deal. I urge all of my fellow conservatives out there to sign up for his campaign, follow him on twitter, join his facebook fan page and give him money. Also, if you can make phone calls for him and/or travel to north Georgia to do some GOTV, please do so!
Tom has been a rock solid conservative leader in the state legislature in Georgia. He has taken on the GOP leadership and has been pushing forward a pro-growth, limited government agenda, before it was the most popular thing to do. Please join his campaign today and let’s help Tom win this special election so he can come to Washington to fight for lower taxes, less government and more freedom.
Scott Brown for US Senate – Rally Tomorrow in Worcester
If I didn’t have so much school work to do this weekend, I’d be up in Massachusetts with my fellow conservatives working on the Scott Brown campaign. Fortunately I can at least make some phone calls from here in Alexandria, send emails, donate money and encourage others to do the same. If Scott wins on Tuesday, and delivers the US Senate seat to the people of Massachusetts, it will be a historic victory for conservatism.
To that end I want to pass along some information to those of you in Massachusetts, and those of you who know people there. Please make sure this info gets out to the right people. Scott will be holding a rally Sunday (tomorrow) at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The address is 321 Main Street, and the doors open at 3:00pm EST. Please help get this message out and encourage everyone you know to make phone calls and send emails in support of Scott Brown for the US Senate.
To victory,
Brendan
GOTV this weekend in Virgina and New York
I’m about to head out to do some Get Out the Vote in my neighborhood (Franconia, VA). It’s kind of misty outside, but it’s not cold, so it shouldn’t be too bad. We have a big election on Tuesday here in Virginia. We have a governor’s race, attorney general’s race and every Member of the House of Delegates is up for election. This is the first big test of the conservative grassroots movement since the protests began in early February. I’m confident we can send a big message to the powers that be.
Also, the huge political news of the day is that the liberal Republican in NY-23 dropped out of the race! This opens up the race for conservative Doug Hoffman, whom my boss Dick Armey endorsed recently. Doug has been surging in the polls, and has a good chance to win. If you haven’t been making phone calls yet, please do so now and help turn the tide against big government in America. Visit www.doughoffmanforcongress.com to find out how to help him win.
Enough blogging for now. I’m heading out to do some GOTV and hopefully remind lots of folks to show up on election day, Nov. 3rd. If you’d like to join me this weekend, drop me a line at bstein80@ yahoo.com
Doug Hoffman surging toward victory in NY 23
Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman is gaining on the Democrat Bill Owens, in New York’s 23rd congressional district special election. Check out the Club for Growth’s great new tv ad, which takes Owens to task for being a big-government trial lawyer.
Grassroots activists from around the country are giving money to Doug Hoffman, making phone calls into the district and volunteering on the ground. See what you can do to help Doug by clicking here.
A Report from the Ground – New York Congressional District 23
I flew into Central New York yesterday morning and headed over to the southwestern part of the 23rd congressional district. My colleague and I met with activists in Canastota and Cicero, which are near Syracuse. The grassroots are fired up about Doug Hoffman’s candidacy for Congress. We haven’t seen a single sign for either of his opponents since we’ve been here. But Doug’s volunteers are positive, focused and skillful. Many of them are brand new to politics, and at least a few were inspired by the 9/12 March on Washington to get involved.
Last night FreedomWorks co-sponsored an event with the Central New York 9/12 Project in Cicero. Dick Armey spoke to the group of about 30 in Drivers Village, a former mall that now houses cars and trucks. It seemed like everyone in the group was working hard to get Doug elected to Congress. They talked for quite some time about the need to go door-to-door, make phone calls, wave signs, assign poll watchers for election day (Nov. 3rd) and recruit new volunteers to the campaign. These guys are brand new, but after only a few weeks of a heated campaign, they looked like pros.
I’m fairly confident that because of the ground game Doug will continue to surge upwards in the polls toward election day, and might even win, although the odds have been against him. Hopefully Dick Armey’s endorsement and the media that he is bringing to the election will help voters in NY 23rd see what Armey sees: that Doug is a true conservative, regular Joe that could really make a difference in Washington.
I’ll be hitting the road in a few minutes again, stopping by the towns from Syracuse to Oswego. We plan to meet with more volunteers in the area and give them our GOTV materials and provide a helping hand to ensure that voters in the district hear about where the candidates actually stand in this race. Dick Armey will be traveling on his own with Doug today, for a number of events, including a press conference, lunch and a rally. If the grassroots continue to pound the pavement, and groups like Club for Growth PAC continue to pour much-needed money into the race, I think this race has the potential to be a major blow to big government Republicans and big government Democrats; and it could prove that the “tea party” movement is a force to be reckoned with in electoral politics.
Signing off from Brewerton, NY..
Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman building support in NY-23rd
Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman is building support for his bid to become a Congressman from the 23rd congressional district in New York. The Club for Growth PAC is launching this television ad tomorrow across the district. The Club has spent lots of money trying to make an impact in the race, in which the GOP establishment sold out the grassroots.
Also Dick Armey will be endorsing Mr. Hoffman later this week. Hoffman faces two liberals in the race, one a Democrat and one a Republican. But with conservative grassroots support, Hoffman has a good shot at beating both of them and becoming the next congressman from the 23rd district of New York.
True Conservative Battles GOP and Democrats in New York 23rd Congressional Race
Michelle Malkin and Erick Erickson report on the big race between the liberal Republican, liberal Democrat and the conservative in New York’s 23rd congressional district race. The election is in three weeks, and I’ll be there next week to help FreedomWorks activists do some boots on the ground GOTV.
Meanwhile, the establishment GOP, including Newt Gingrich, Eric Cantor and Pete Sessions, are supporting the liberal Republican over the true conservative candidate.
Michael Williams for US Senate

Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams announced his candidacy for the US Senate today. Williams is a conservative who believes in lower taxes and less government, and deserves the support of my fellow Texans. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has decided to challenge Governor Rick Perry in 2010, which opened up this chance for Williams to run for her seat in two years.
Here is his campaign website. And you can follow him on Twitter.
The Austin American-Statesman reports,
Michael Williams, the Republican chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission, said today he’s running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Kay Bailey Hutchison, who has said she might resign by late next year to run for governor in 2010.
Williams, declaring on Facebook and via Twitter, said he’s seeking the seat because he thinks it’s a race he can win.
Who is Michael Williams? You can read his full bio on wikipedia.
Michael L. Williams (born May 31, 1953) is one of the three members of the elected Texas Railroad Commission, a regulatory body over, not railroads, but the oil and natural gas industries. Williams is currently the highest-ranking African American in statewide Texas politics. In the 2008 Election cycle, Williams won a six year term to serve until 2014. He joined the commission under appointment of Governor George W. Bush in 1998.
Campaigning in Georgia this weekend
This weekend I fly to Atlanta to organize a cadre of FreedomWorks volunteers to do some GOTV for the Senate runoff election on Dec. 2nd. Although Sen. Chambliss is not a conservative stalwart, I fear the worst if the Democrats get 60 votes in the Senate. This would mean that no one could stop their onslaught of bad policy, from union giveaways like “card check” to socialized medicine and “cap and trade.”
I’ll be working with our field team to organize a dozen meetings around Georgia, from Columbus in the west, to Atlanta, to Savannah in the east of the state. We will be going door to door with information about the two candidates in the race, and hope to move 100,000 pieces of voter education materials in the next couple of weeks.
All conservatives around the country should do what they can to make an impact on this race. Call the state GOP in Georgia and volunteer a few hours to make sure that liberals don’t get a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate.
Alaska Senator Ted Stevens should be expelled
Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) is calling for the Senate to expel convicted felon Senator Ted Stevens. As Politico reports, Stevens wants time to appeal his case, although he has already been convicted by one jury for corruption. The Republican Party should not wait for the appeal, but should force Stevens to leave the Senate. Otherwise, it will show that it is not serious about changing its ways and becoming a reform party once more.
It looks like Stevens will be re-elected, although the votes are still being counted. If indeed, he is elected, he should either resign or be forced out. Then, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin can appoint a new Senator to represent the state in Washington, D.C. This is a chance for Sen. Mitch McConnell to show leadership and initiative by starting the process of ridding the Republican Party of one of its most corrupt members. If he fails to show leadership it will be a huge mistake and will reflect poorly on the GOP, which still seems to learn its lesson before it changes.
