Democrats on full display in CNN debate

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

It has been a painful evening, but I am listening to the C-Span radio replay of the Democrat presidential debate on CNN.

The best question so far was “Do you send your kids to private or public school?” The Dems pulled out some ridiculous answers for that one. OF COURSE the rich, elitist Democrats send their kids to the private schools. But they don’t want YOUR kids to be able to go to private schools.

UPDATE: Anderson Cooper just asked how many of the candidates took a private or chartered jet to South Carolina. Ha! Another moment of hypocrisy.

UDATE: Hillary said she is “agnostic” on nuclear power but wants to raise taxes on oil companies.

UPDATE: The candidates are waging their normal race and class warfare, making sure to pander to all politically correct minority groups. Is it still the fifties or something? I thought we were making progress. Guess not.

UPDATE: John Edwards wants a $9.50 minimum wage law. Why not $20 an hour, John? Oh, because that will be too costly for small businesses… so John wants people to lose their jobs…

UPDATE: Bill Richardson and Chris Dodd would have their socialized medicine programs cover criminal aliens. And who pays? You, me and Dupree.

Fred Thompson to enter Presidential race third week of May?

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I recently spoke with a political insider in Tennessee who said that Senator Fred Thompson will enter the race for President after his Law and Order contract expires during the third week of May. This is apparently what he is waiting for, as there is some clause that might prevent him from doing what he needs to do to run.

The source is a Republican elected official in the state house in Nashville who I consider to be very credible. Otherwise, I would not post this on my blog. I guess we will know for sure in a few weeks. With Thompson running third in recent polls, he could really shake up the race.

Democrats Surrender: “War is Lost”

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Drudge is reporting that Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) has concluded that the Iraq war is lost, and that the surge isn’t working. Call me crazy, but based on his previous comments, I think Sen. Reid is hoping that the war is lost so the Democrats can benefit politically. Their pursuit at power will stop at nothing, not even if it breaks the morale of our troops in the field. Pathetic.

Al Jazeera is reporting this story on their website. I called Reid’s office and notified them of this. The staffer said he couldn’t visit al Jazeera. Funny, shouldn’t Reid allow his staff to read news sources that quote him? I told the person who answered that Sen. Reid might want to choose his words more carefully next time. The phone number for those of you who want to call Reid is 202-224-3542.

Hillary Clinton preaching class warfare in Iowa

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Senator Hillary Clinton is in Iowa today at a town hall meeting in Des Moines. She just started her speech and is already bashing the current President, complaining that CEO’s get paid a lot of money and setting up the argument for Hillary Care, part two.

Clinton is scary. Not just because of her rhetoric (she hasn’t laid out any policy proposals yet) but because of her organizational skills and the way her staff is controlling the message. They are very good. The questions at the town hall seem to be planted. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the Clintons.

I am still waiting for someone to ask her about the war in Iraq, the entitlement crisis and immigration. Something tells me she will not address any of the really serious issues facing America.

Here is media coverage of her speech.

UPDATE: Hillary just called for universal health care. And just got a question about the war.

Hillary Clinton announces her run for 2008

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

It’s now official. Hillary is going to run for President in 2008.

Anyone interested in finding out more about her background should check out Amanda Carpenter’s book “The Vast Right-Wing’s Dossier on Hillary Clinton.”

Mitt Romney supported abortion in 1994

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Who is the conservative candidate for 2008? Some say it is Gov. Mitt Romney from Massachusetts.
Red State has a great video from 1994 that exposes Romney’s liberal past. He came out in support of abortion and other liberal social issues. This raises serious doubts about Romney’s conservative credentials for the 2008 Presidential election.
Here it is.

Chavez to nationalize industries, erode freedoms

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

The actions of Venezuelan socialist strongman Hugo Chavez should remind freedom-lovers everywhere of the danger of authoritarianism around the world.

His comments are frightening in their disregard for freedom, free enterprise and free trade. He is dismantling the right of the press to say what it wants, and the right of people to own and keep what they earn.

Here is the story. Excerpts from the story are below.

– “We’re heading toward socialism, and nothing and no one can prevent it.” — Hugo Chavez
– Last week, Chávez decided to not renew the broadcast license of RCTV, a Caracas television station long critical of his administration. That move prompted swift condemnation from press freedom groups.

– “I move forward with my request for a revolutionary enabling law,” he said. “We already have the document prepared. We are making the final revisions, and we solicit special powers.”

Al Qaeda to Dems: We Won in November

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

The terrorists believe that they won when the Republicans lost.

Here is the story.

Mexican legislators go wild

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

And I thought U.S. politicians had a monopoly on stupidity and childishness!

Watch this.

The Washington Post has a good article on the transfer of power.

Brief thoughts on the midterm elections

Thursday, November 30th, 2006
The Democrats have what they desperately wanted: power. Throughout the past six years of the Bush presidency they have criticized, pontificated, complained and cursed about Republican control of the government and our post-911 foreign policy.

Now, the people have spoken and the Democrats have their chance. It will be interesting to watch and see whether the far-left can push Pelosi and company to move for impeachment of Bush, to pull our troops out of Iraq and to push through a socialist domestic agenda.

I, for one, actually doubt that the Democrats will do these things. But perhaps I am giving them too much credit. If they want to stay in power and win the presidency in 2008 they should probably not become the party of revenge. Rather, they should pass legislation that deals with real issues, economic and social, domestic and foreign policy, and let the American people decide whether or not they want the Democrats to control the government in 2008 and beyond.

Republicans

As for the Republican party, it needs to return to its professed roots of limited government, lower taxes and more freedom. I urge everyone to call their Representative and ask them to support conservatives for minority leadership positions. It’s time for new blood. Please support Mike Pence, John Shadegg and Marsha Blackburn for leadership positions in the House. (minority leader, whip, and conference chairman)

The War

With Rumsfeld’s resignation I fear that we are reverting to a realist, realpolitik foreign policy led by men like James Baker, Robert Gates, Brent Scowcroft and Henry Kissinger. If that is what is required to make things better in Iraq, so be it. But isn’t this method of dealing with the world partly to blame for getting us into the trouble we are in? Making deals with the evil regimes of Iran, North Korea, Syria and Saudi Arabia won’t make us any safer. It will only “stabilize” the Middle East temporarily. At least until the next attack on our homeland.

These next couple of years will be interesting to watch, and just as frightening as the previous five years.
